Same Foot Lunge - Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Tango

Tango. The figure will be danced as below, but of course with Tango technique and character. Be careful not to rise or swing into 1-2. Normally, each step will be taken sharply and with a feeling of a "stop" at the end of 2. A sharp staccato action is used on 3, however, it is also possible to add beats to 3 to create a very slow and expressive change of shape into the Same Foot Lunge.

Same Foot Lunge Point

While the shape of the Line is identical to that described above, the entry is different. The Man will not move into the Lunge, but will close RF to LF to lower and extend his L leg without weight into the Line, leading Lady to Swivel to her R to extend LF forward without weight into the Same Foot Lunge shape. Therefore, a "Point" action is used by both, giving the name to the figure. Different rhythms may be danced, but usually a "sharper" rhythmic action is used to portray the change of shapes.
