On steps 1, 3, & 4, turn is commenced toward the end of the previous beat of music

Special Note concerning the Lady's turn on steps 5 and 6 of some figures ended in Open or Fan Position

Because of slight deviations of speed of body turn, the Lady's turn may be more gradual; she may prefer to turn 3/8 to L between 4 and 5 to end with RF back and slightly to side, making a further 1/8 between 5&6. This deviation is acceptable in both theory and demonstration

Notes

1 Step 3 is a Pressed Forward Walk
2 Turn on 4 is initiated from the hips, which are turned more than the upper body

Developments

Gold Man may use a "Press Line" on 1 by making a slight swivel to R on RF and placing LF fwd on ball of foot with pressure but split weight (See Cucaracha Development)
2 The Advanced Hip Twist may also be danced following the Alemana with R to R hand hold, changing to L to R hand hold on 5 of Advanced Hip Twist

Notes

1 Steps 3, 5, 7, &9 are Pressed Backward Walks
2 Because of the continuous turn, knees will not straighten fully on 4 and 8, therefore only a slight, natural hip movement is used
3 Owing to the rotation and possible variation in the side of the circle, the turn may vary

Man's last step of preceding figure is RF fwd in line with LF toward Lady's R side, turning body slightly to R and leading Lady fwd toward R side. Lady LF fwd in line with RF. His penultimate step of the preceding Alemana, Rope Spinning, Three Threes, or Three Alemanas is slightly leftward
Up to 1/4 turn to R may be made over the last two steps of the preceding Alemana, Natural Top, or Rope Spinning

Following Figures

Gold 4-6 of Advanced Hip Twist (Lady 1/4 L on 4)

Note

Lady's turns on 4-9 are initiated from the hips, which are turned more than the upper body. Lady circles around the Man, retaining a positional alignment in relation to her partner, holding the shoulders as square to him as possible. Advanced Lady dancers may achieve a stronger twist from the hips, causing the feet to turn a little more

The Circular Hip Twists may be danced with R to R hand hold following an Alemana from Open Position with this hold. Change to normal L to R hand hold on 5 of the following Advanced Hip Twist
