Silver Jive

Silver Jive Routine 1

This routine is designed for partnerships where the Lady excels at spins and turns. In addition the introduction of the Simple Spin, the Change of Place from R to L and the Spanish Arms have the option to be overturned in Silver, and if danced well they can be extremely competitive. Figures like the Reverse Whip, the Rolling off the Arm, the Stop and Go, and the Walks are also competitive figures, but the highlights of the routine are the Lady's spins. The Hesitation Ball Change after the Lady's Overspin adds a moment of stillness after the spin is finished, accentuating the speed of her turn.

Silver Jive Routine 2

This routine is designed for dancers who dance Jive kicks very well, but where the Lady does not spin well enough to make Routine 1 look competitive. While certain, easier spinning figures are used, the routine focuses more on fast feet and the overall picture, rather than just flashy spins. The routine starts off with the strongest kicking figure in the Syllabus, the Mooch, and then includes kick ball changes in key places throughout the routine.

N.B. Often, the Man dances a Kick Ball Change (QaQ) when the Lady dances a Rock Step (QQ). When the Man and Lady's rhythms/timings differ, the more complex (in this case, the Man's) is always given.
